2011 Beach Party
Irvine, California • November 2011
With nasty weather looming on the Seattle weekend forecast, UW escaped
south to compete at the Beach Party Invitational hosted by the
University of California, Irvine. The unique tournament format had both
of the UW teams competing together as one, matched the Huskies’ teams
against the combined strengths of four other programs. After a
tournament-opening loss to the Irvine Anteaters (the eventual tournament
champions), the Huskies had a winning record the rest of the way,
finishing just one ballot shy of a .500 record and an honorable mention
finish.
For the majority of UW’s team this was the first competition of the year, and for some of our newer members it was their inaugural collegiate mock trial experience. The sunny California weather may have decided not to come out this weekend, but the future of this program is so bright, shades are advised in any case.
