Seattle Regional
University of Washington Mock Trial is proud to parter with the American Mock Trial Association to present the Seattle Regional. Each February, programs across the country host a series of Regional tournaments that serve as the first step to crowning the season's national champion. UWMT began hosting the Seattle Regional in 2017.
The tournament will be held on February 8-9, 2020 on the University of Washington Seattle campus at William H. Gates Hall, home to the UW School of Law, and at Denny Hall. A tournament packet will be released in the coming months with all the details that competing teams will need to make their way to Seattle. For now, this page has all of the major tournament details and will be updated as information is finalized. |
Information for Judges
We are seeking local attorneys and judges to volunteer to judge at the Seattle Regional. As a judge, you will evaluate the competitors over the course of a trial and provide both written and verbal feedback on their performances. The experience is fun and rewarding, and it's a great chance to help the next generation of lawyers be the best they can be! Refreshments will be provided before each round.
If you would like to judge, the online sign-up form will be available in the coming months.

Venue, Directions, and Lodging
The Seattle Regional will be primarily held at William H. Gates Hall, located near the north campus entrance. This facility will hold the majority of trials, plus registration, tab, captains meetings, and ceremonies. Additional trials will be held just across the street at Denny Hall.
The campus can be easily accessed from Interstate 5, just take Exit 169 for NE 45th Street. Parking will be available at multiple lots near the law school, however, please note that the N1 parking lot immediately adjacent to the building is closed for construction and will not be available this year.
Additionally, the University of Washington Light Rail station provides great connectivity between the campus, downtown Seattle, and even the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac). Note that it is a 10-15 minute walk between Gates Hall and the light rail station, which is located at the southern end of the UW campus near the stadiums. We highly recommend using the light rail to connect to the airport for all teams planning to fly to the Seattle Regional. More information on the light rail system, including schedules and pricing can be found on the Sound Transit Website.
Uber and Lyft are used throughout the Seattle area and are recommended for any team that will not have their own vehicles.
More information on logistics, including recommended nearby hotels, will be provided in the tournament packet, to be released in the coming months.
