Seattle Regional
University of Washington Mock Trial is proud to partner with the American Mock Trial Association to present the Seattle Regional. Each February, programs across the country host a series of Regional tournaments that serve as the first step to crowning the season's national champion. UWMT began hosting the Seattle Regional in 2017.
The tournament will be held on February 17-18, 2024 on the University of Washington Seattle campus at William H. Gates Hall, home to the UW School of Law, and Denny Hall. A tournament packet will be released a few weeks before the Seattle Regional. If your team is assigned to the Seattle Regional, be sure to look out for an email from our program and AMTA with the tournament packet in the winter! If you are a non-competitor or school group interested in spectating the competition, please email us at [email protected]. We will provide you with event details and spectator guidelines. |
Information for Judges
We are seeking local attorneys and judges to volunteer to judge at the Seattle Regional. As a judge, you will evaluate the competitors over the course of a trial and provide both written and verbal feedback on their performances. The experience is fun and rewarding, and it's a great chance to help the next generation of lawyers be the best they can be! Refreshments will be provided before each round.
If you are interested in judging the Seattle Regional, sign-ups are open now! Please email [email protected] if you have any questions.

Venue, Directions, and Lodging
The Seattle Regional will be primarily held at William H. Gates Hall, located near the north campus entrance. This facility will hold the majority of trials, plus registration, tab, captains meetings, and ceremonies. Additional trials will be held just across the street at Denny Hall.
The campus can be easily accessed from Interstate 5, just take Exit 169 for NE 45th Street. Parking will be available at multiple lots near the law school, with the N1 and N5 lots being the closest to the law school. The parking is paid. The current rate is $4 per hour and $19.50 per day at most lots surrounding UW. Parking becomes free and unrestricted after 12pm on Saturdays and all day on Sundays at most lots. If you would like to see more details about UW's parking lots and rates, you can visit the UW Transportation Website.
Additionally, the University of Washington Light Rail station provides great connectivity between the campus, downtown Seattle, and even the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac). If you are traveling via Light Rail to the law school, exit the light rail once you reach the U-District station. Do not exit at the University of Washington station. This station is at the south end of campus, whereas the U-District station is at the north end of campus where the law school is. The law school is a 5 minute walk from the U-District Light Rail station. We highly recommend using the light rail to connect to the airport for all teams planning to fly to the Seattle Regional. More information on the light rail system, including schedules and pricing can be found on the Sound Transit Website. Uber and Lyft are used throughout the Seattle area and are recommended for any team that will not have their own vehicles. More information on logistics, including recommended nearby hotels, will be provided in the tournament packet. |
