University of Washington Mock Trial is proud to partner with the American Mock Trial Association to present the Seattle Regional. Each February, programs across the country host a series of Regional tournaments that serve as the first step to crowning the season's national champion. UWMT began hosting the Seattle Regional in 2017.
The tournament will be held on the University of Washington Seattle campus at William H. Gates Hall, home to the UW School of Law, and Denny Hall. The 2025 Seattle Regional will be held on Feburary 22nd and Febuary 23rd. A tournament packet will be released a few weeks before the Seattle Regional. If your team is assigned to the Seattle Regional, be sure to look out for an email from our program and AMTA with the tournament packet! If you are a non-competitor or school group interested in spectating the competition, please email us at [email protected]. We will provide you with event details and spectator guidelines. |
Information for Judges
We are seeking local attorneys and judges to volunteer to judge at the Seattle Regional. As a judge, you will evaluate the competitors over the course of a trial and provide both written and verbal feedback on their performances. The experience is fun and rewarding, and it's a great chance to help the next generation of lawyers be the best they can be! Refreshments will be provided before each round.
If you are interested in judging the Seattle Regional, sign-ups are open now! Please email [email protected] if you have any questions.

Transportation
Public Transit
The University of Washington is served by Link Light Rail. The U-District Station is the one after the UW Station (on the 1 Line). If you are traveling via Light Rail to the law school, exit the light rail once you reach the U-District station. Do not exit at the University of Washington station. This station is at the south end of campus, whereas the U-District station is at the north end of campus where the law school is. The walk between U-District Station and Gates Hall (LAW) is approximately 5 minutes.
The light rail connects the University to downtown Seattle (less than 10 minutes) and the SeaTac (around 60 minutes). One-way adult fares are $3.00. Day passes are twice the one-way fare and are valid for travel only on the date purchased. You can also use an Orca Card (fare card). Anyone 18 years old or younger rides free.
Local bus routes are available and operated by King County Metro Transit. Note these do not provide service to the airport but do connect to light rail stations. Bus fare is $3.25 and must be paid in cash unless you have an Orca Card. Anyone 18 years old or younger rides free. If you use both a bus and the light rail in one journey, please note you will have to pay separate fares unless you have an Orca Card.
Ridesharing
Uber and Lyft serve the Seattle area and prices vary. Both provide a great option for teams without their own vehicles to travel during the weekend. It may be most cost-effective to rideshare to a light rail station and use Link to connect to the airport.
Parking
The campus can be easily accessed from Interstate 5, just take Exit 169 for NE 45th Street. Parking will be available at multiple lots near the law school, with the N1 and N5 lots being the closest to the law school. The parking is paid. The current rate is $4 per hour and $19.50 per day at most lots surrounding UW. Parking becomes free and unrestricted after 12pm on Saturdays and all day on Sundays at most lots. If you would like to see more details about UW's parking lots and rates, you can visit the UW Transportation Website. Teams with their own vehicles are encouraged to access the University at the north entrance, located at the intersection of NE 45th Street and 17th Avenue NE / Memorial Way NE. This provides easy access to the convenient N1 parking lot.
