The Emerald City Open is returning again in 2019. This year's ECO will be held on November 23-24, 2019 on the UW campus at the School of Law. Invitations are being sent out this summer.

At UWMT we strive to bring you one a great invitational experience to hone your skills for the competitive season. Our events are fully stocked with attorney and AMTA-graduate judges, so you won't need to worry about your coach stepping in. We want to make the 2019 ECO the best one yet!

Information for Judges

We are seeking local attorneys and judges to volunteer to judge at the 2019 Emerald City Open. As a judge, you will evaluate the competitors over the course of a trial and provide both written and verbal feedback on their performances. The experience is fun and rewarding, and it's a great chance to help the next generation of lawyers be the best they can be! Refreshments will be provided before each round.

If you would like to judge, the sign-up form will be available soon.

Venue and Directions

The 2018 Emerald City Open will be held at William H. Gates Hall, located near the north campus entrance.
The campus can be easily accessed from Interstate 5, just take Exit 169 for NE 45th Street. Parking will be available at multiple lots near the law school, however, please note that the N1 parking lot immediately adjacent to the building is closed for construction and will not be available this year.

Additionally, the University of Washington Light Rail station provides great connectivity between the campus, downtown Seattle, and even the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac). Note that it is a 10-15 minute walk between Gates Hall and the light rail station, which is located at the southern end of the UW campus near the stadiums. We highly recommend using the light rail to connect to the airport for all teams planning to fly to ECO. More information on the light rail system, including schedules and pricing can be found on the Sound Transit Website.

Uber and Lyft are used throughout the Seattle area and are recommended for any team that will not have their own vehicles.

Lodging

There are several hotels near UW that you can stay at. Note that if you stay near the University Village area to the east of campus, you will likely need to drive to each round. Teams staying just west or northwest of campus will be within walking distance of the Law School venue.
