2012 Downtown Invitational
New York, New York • January 2012
In its last invitational tournament of the season, UW sent its veteran
team to compete at The Downtown, hosted by New York University. The
Huskies were one of five new teams that competed against a field of six
former national champions and programs that are widely considered to be
the best in the nation. UW began with a hard fought round against UC
Santa Cruz, last year’s Cinderella story, and then swept Furman
University in Round 2. After a split with Rhodes College, the Huskies
got revenge on Northwood University and took home the seventh place
trophy!
After nearly missing the tournament due to a snowstorm, this finish is among the sweetest in the Program’s history. The Huskies solidified themselves as national contender, and hopes to bring that momentum into the upcoming Regional tournament in Portland.
