2014 Commodore Classic
Nashville, Tennessee • January 2014
Just a week after competing at UCLA’s U Classic, Team 1269 brought their “A”-game across the country to Vanderbilt’s Commodore Classic in Nashville, Tennessee. The tournament spanned from January 25th- 26th, and gave the team a chance to hit great teams from a different region. The team started the tournament strong, winning two ballots against the University of Chicago. In a close second round, the Huskies split with Rhodes College. Though the third round was hard-fought, the Huskies dropped both ballots to the University of Texas. Fortunately for the Dawgs, they were able to make a comeback in the final round, winning one ballot and tying the other against Rhodes College’s second team. The Huskies finished out the tournament with a record of 4-3-1.
This marks the end of the invitational season, and now the entire program looks forward to preparing for the regional competition in Corvallis, Oregon next month. This invitational season has been a taxing one for team 1269, who attended three invitational tournaments in addition to the program’s own Emerald City Open. After gaining great experience, the team is hopeful and excited for the upcoming regional.
