Michelle Nguyen
Michelle earned her degree in Law, Societies, and Justice and Education Studies. When she isn't doing mock trial, she's probably looking at memes on Reddit and sending them to her friends. Michelle enjoys defending her unpopular opinions including that tea is better than coffee, pickles shouldn't exist, and that mock trial is definitely a sport (because it is).

Dylan Stroh
Dylan earned his degree in LSJ and Political Science with the international security option - mainly because he cannot be bothered to take any stem classes. He competed in Speech and Debate in high school and intends on going to law school.

Louis Zheng
Louis earned his degree in Political Science and Law, Societies, and Justice. When not drowning in reading and essays, Louis looks to some more drowning in mock trial. In his free time, Louis enjoys drawing, gaming, working out, or perhaps having an existential crisis after watching some science documentary

Ahryn is from Houston, Texas and earned her degree in Law, Societies, and Justice at UW. When she's not doing mock trial, Ahryn loves to sleep, play guitar, and rant about how Seattle needs more Chick-fil-A restaurants.

Abigail Smith
Abigail is a senior pretending to know the secrets of the universe in the form of physics and the history of science. When she's not having a crisis over the math she signed up for voluntarily, she's probably trying to catch up on reading about that same math. If you still can't find her, she's probably listening to music, watching her comfort shows, or playing video games.

Matthieu Durieux
Matthieu graduated with a degree in applied and computational mathematics. He spends his time in nature or eating food. He was born in France but moved over here when he was 3. Matthieu plans on traveling the world.

Aditi Srinivasan
Aditi was a sophomore while on the team, majoring in computer science and minoring in neural computation and engineering. She’s passionate about advocating for educational equality, bridging the gender gap in STEM fields, and bringing awareness about indigenous languages in society. Aditi did mock trial in high school and is beyond excited to continue her journey in college. She’s still exploring her career options and is yet to decide on whether she wants to go into startups, big tech, or corporate law.

Catherine Chen
Catherine was a junior while on the team, majoring in Economics. She was so traumatized by Foster’s finance bros that she had to switch her whole career path to law. Outside of mock trial, she loves to online shop, journal, and read. Her dream is to live in the Hype House, where she can finally be with her favorite TikTok boy.

Bao Khong
Bao was sophomore while on UWMT hoping to major in Political Science and/or Laws, Societies, and Justice. He grew up in Portland, Oregon, and decided to attend UW because it resonated with him. When he isn't mock trialing, he's reading books, inhaling boba drinks, creating videos/short films, exercising, or spending quality time with family and friends.

Daisy Fernandez
Daisy was a Junior while on UWMT, studying English and International Studies. She is excited to continue Mock Trial in college. Outside of Mock Trial, she can be found watching bad movies, pointing out cute dogs around campus, or judging people who prefer milk chocolate over dark chocolate.

Aleena Haris
Aleena grew up in New Jersey before moving up to Sammamish, Washington. She was a member of her high school’s mock trial team and is excited to keep competing at UW. She likes drinking iced tea, watching crime TV shows, and spending time with her friends. During her time at UWMT, she served as the Logistics Chair and team captain. After graduation, Aleena will be in New York attending law school at Cornell University.

Alice Miller
Alice graduated UW with a degree English and Sociology. When she's not fretting over the current state of our nation, she can be found reading, trying new recipes, or listening to musicals. Alice works as a copy editor at The UW Daily.

Hannah Dahleen
Hannah graduated with a degree in English and Political Science. During her time with the program, she served as the Fundraising Chair, President, and now coaches part time. When she’s not struggling through her economics homework, she uses her limited free time to read, write, hang out with friends, and eat as much Pad Thai as humanly possible.

Kyler Teo
Raised in Sammamish, Washington, Kyler has probably spent a disproportionate amount of his life on mock trial. He served as the Logistics Chair and Vice President before rejoining the program as a coach. He studied chemistry and is now attending law school. He drinks black cold brew like water, and probably has some now.

Olivia Bishop
Olivia served as the Tournament Coordinator for three of her four years with UWMT. Moving all the way from a small town in Kansas, she’s excited to explore Seattle and experience everything that she can. In high school, she spent most of her time competing in speech and debate. She is passionate about many subjects and has a degree in Philosophy and Political Science.

Avanij Chakravarty
Avanij is a pre-med student majoring in Biology. He grew up in Sammamish, Washington and began competing in Mock Trial in high school. In his free time, Avanij enjoys listening to music, baking everything from pizza to cupcakes, and spending way too much time on his phone. You can find him leading UW's Pre-Health fraternity Delta Epsilon Mu as their Director of Internal Affairs.

Tyrel Duckworth
Tyrel is a Sigma Nu and is studying Psychology, Political Science, and Spanish. In his spare time, Tyrel loves to hike, mountain bike, and go on runs while admiring the trees and wildlife – rather ironic considering there is neither of both in Seattle. When he is not doing something active outdoors, Tyrel cherishes spending time with people, reading a book, or playing the piano.

Alaka Rao
Alaka grew up a car ride away in Sammamish, WA, and she loves theatre, movies, and the LA Dodgers. In her free time, she watches Cheers and Breaking Bad because she can’t make up her mind between comedies and dramas. Alaka served as UWMT's President in her final year, and racked up enough awards during her three years as a formidable double threat to graduate as the most decorated member in club history.

Kaitlyn Laibe
Kaitlyn is a junior at UW currently studying LSJ, Political Science, and a bit of Public Policy. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona - she spends most of her time in Seattle being cold, Facetiming home to her family and 2 rescue pugs, and drinking an obscene amount of cold brew. She served as a powerful attorney during her time at UWMT, both closing for the prosecution and opening for the defense, and will be taking a year off to focus on her term as the ASUW Vice President.

Katelyn Zou
Katelyn is from the SF Bay Area. She was a captain on her high school Mock Trial team and is absolutely psyched to join the team at UW. Beyond Mock Trial, she is your local hamster enthusiast and an avid watcher of PBS Kid’s hit show, Clifford’s Puppy Days.

Makayla West
Makayla majored in Sociology with a double minor in Law, Societies and Justice as well as Political Science. She is from a small town known as Carnation just an hour east of Seattle. Makayla lives by the motto that every day is a good day if you get to pet a dog. Her goal is to become a prosecutor that focuses on the rights of victims and their families, and following her graduation, she is attending law school at UO.

Samira graduated with a double major in Political Science and Law, Societies, and Justice. Most of her time is spent listening to podcasts, micro-managing the next ten years of her life, or arguing about the Middle East. She plans on learning at least four languages and attending law school to study international law.

Sheila Panyam
Sheila graduated with a major in Philosophy and History. After filling her high school years with We the People and Speech and Debate, she couldn’t wait to participate in Mock Trial. In her free time, Sheila loves to read, write, and play far too much Assassin’s Creed. She is currently attending Harvard Law School.

EJ Velasco
Born in Houston, raised in Seattle, EJ attended the Foster School of Business and studied Accounting. He has aspirations for, eventually, law school. Despite having no mock trial experience before college, EJ loves public speaking and looks for any reasonable opportunity to make a flowery speech. Outside of Mock Trial, EJ enjoys playing football, cooking, music, telling jokes, and watching the Seahawks. He served as UWMT's President during the 2019-2020 season.

Auria Coons-Hale
Auria is from Marysville, Washington. She wants to major in all life sciences, but she knows that’s unrealistic and thus spends her days trying to figure out her favorite subject. Auria spends most of her free time avoiding taking professional pictures, growing whatever plants she can fit in her dorm, and reading.

Riley Grace Borden
Riley Grace is from Whidbey Island and graduated with a major in English and Public Health Studies. She enjoys reading, petting all dogs, and training for/competing in endurance sports. She hopes to use a future career in law to advocate for female athletes and artists, and currently attends law school at UW.

Brianna is a WA state native, repping the city of Kent. She majored in Law, Societies, and Justice. Brianna has a passion for social justice and plans to pursue her interests in law school. When she isn’t studying, Brianna loves listening to music and spending time with her friends and family.

Zoe Glepa
Zoe hails from Las Vegas, Nevada. After dedicating her high school existence to law, it only makes sense that she continued the tradition in college. She is double majoring in Comparative Literature and Philosophy with hopes of attending law school. When she does have free time, she can be found wanting to sleep, playing an instrument, or wondering about what to eat next.

Alece Stancin
Alece has lived in Washington, Kansas, and Colorado, and considers all three to be her home. She loved mock trial in high school and was thrilled to be able to continue mock trial at the UW. Alece is studying Economics and Political Science, and in her free time she enjoys reading, making to-do lists, and eating potatoes.

Savannah Bair
As a former student of the University of Idaho, Savannah transferred to UW and studed Political Science. After competing in speech and debate throughout high school and coaching for the program after high school graduation, she decided to compete in Mock Trial. She plans to attend law school to become an attorney. Savannah served as Vice President her final year with UWMT.

Nina Karagounis
Nina travelled many miles over rough Californian desert terrain to get to UW and major in Political Science with a focus in case law. She spent a decent amount of her time in college wishing she was at mock trial and hanging out with her roommate (who is also on the team). In her free time, Nina enjoys making tea, knitting and daydreaming about mock trial. Nina was the 2018-19 logistics chair for UWMT.

Chelsa Edano
Chelsa hails from the exotic lands of Las Vegas. She was originally just a Political Science major, but she graduated in Anthropology, with a focus in Archaeology. A career in law is hopefully in the future. To escape the constant stress of school, Chelsa loves to paint, read comic books, binge Netflix dramas, and practice Kung Fu. Chelsa was UWMT's President during the 2018-19 season.

Angelia Miranda
Angelia was a transfer student at the University of Washington who double majored in Philosophy and International Studies. Now that she has graduated, she hopes to travel and work abroad before attending law school to pursue international legal studies. Her favorite things include romantic comedies, iced coffee, her inline speed-skates, and quoting The West Wing.

Alexandra Bartos-O'Neill
Alexandra majored in political science and philosophy. She joined UWMT's team after being drawn in by participating in her high school Mock Trial team. Being part of UWMT has been some of the best memories and experiences she has had so far at UW. While not doing mock trial, she listens to and sings opera and is a resident advisor on campus. Alexandra helped UW earn it's best-ever finish at the National Championship Tournament--2nd Place in 2015--during her freshman year, and served as President during her senior season.

Austin Graham
Austin spent three seasons with UWMT, serving as both fundraising coordinator and tournament coordinator during his time. He was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, grew up in Reno, Nevada, and moved up to Seattle to get his undergraduate degree with a double major in Philosophy and Spanish. Mr. Graham plans to attend law school and hopes to one day work at the federal level as an attorney, judge, or representative.

Sneha Indrajit
Sneha Indrajit graduated after three years at the UW with a major in International Studies, in the foreign policy and diplomacy track with a keen interest on issues of cybersecurity as well as human rights. She intends to pursue law in the future. She was the program's fundraising chair from 2017-18.

Thomas Karagounis
Thomas hails from the land down under, and began mock trial in his freshman year of high school. He enjoyed continuing his mock trial career at UW while studying bioengineering. He hopes to one day have a job, doing something or other, but until he figures out what, he plans to watch as the amount of tabs on his laptop swells with calc proofs and youtube. When not studying or with friends, he naps.

Natalie Garson
Natalie spent her first two years of college with UWMT. She will be spending the remainder of her undergraduate career at Boston University, which has offered her a full-ride scholarship. During her time with played attorney and witness roles and served as the Logistics Chair for 2016-17.

Kaitlyn McGlothlen
Kaitlyn spent three great years with UWMT, joining during her sophomore year at UW after spending a season the UW Crew Team. She graduated with a double major in philosophy and psychology. She spent two years on the program's executive board, including serving as President her senior season. Post-UW, she plans to be in Seattle for a bit before heading overseas to live in France or England and pursue a PhD/PsyD in psychology.

Taylor Deardorff
Taylor led the UW Mock Trial program for two seasons as President, and, during her junior campaign, helped captain UW's Second Place finish at the National Championship. Her attorney and witness abilities garnered her one of the largest individual award collections the club has seen. Taylor is taking a year off before she plans to start Law School in 2017.

Lucas Heflin, All-American
Lucas leaves UWMT as the seventh All-American in program history. In addition to prepping cases, Lucas ran the Emerald City Open for two years, during which time he was able to recruit record numbers of judges and host the tournament at the Seattle Municipal Courthouse--for the first time. He plans to get his masters in Aerospace Engineering after graduation.

Vanessa James
Vanessa spent four great seasons with the program while earning her major in International Studies. Beyond competing, she helped organize program logistics and finances as the Logistics Chair as a junior and the fundraising chair as a senior. She is headed to UW School of Law after graduating with the plan of becoming a human rights attorney.

AJ Lupinski
Mr. Lupinski was a part of UW Mock Trial for three years, during which time he was a dual-threat witness and attorney. He also was in charge of program hotel and travel accommodations as the club Logistics Chair during his final season. AJ graduated from UW in only three years with a degree in Psychology, which he hopes to put to use as a game designer.

Austin Bisharat
Austin is an avid programmer, magician, math lover, and reader. He studies coding at the UW, and spends his free time looking at computers and pretending to be a lawyer. He frequently reads Lord of the Rings by candlelight and pretends to be a Hobbit.

Sara Leonetti, All-American
Sara was a proud UW mocker throughout college. During that time, she helped advance the program to three consecutive National Championship Tournament appearances, including a Second Place finish in 2015 and an honorable mention in 2013. Ms. Leonetti split her time evenly between council table and the witness stand.
Sara holds the historic distinction of earning a perfect 30 ranks at the 2015 National Championship, a feat that had never been accomplished before. Additionally, as a terrific student--and in part because of her success with UWMT--she was awarded with the University of Washington President's Medal, which is presented to only two graduating seniors annually for achieving the most outstanding undergraduate careers. After graduation, Sara is embarking on a year-long teaching program in Asia. She plans to attend law school upon her return. Kyle Tong
Kyle competed for three seasons with the program. During that time, he portrayed an array of witnesses with great results and even spent some time sitting at council table as an opening attorney.

Class of 2014
Kaleigh Boyd
Kaleigh joined UWMT in 2011 and competed with the program for three seasons. In that time, she delivered closing arguments at consecutive national championship tournaments, helped the program earn Honorable Mention at NCT XXIX, and won multiple competitions. Kaleigh served as President of the program during the 2013-2014 season.
During college, Ms. Powell studied Political Science and Communication. Kaleigh attended UW Law, where she served as the President of Moot Court Honor Board and won multiple in-house mock trial and moot court competitions. After completing a one-year federal clerkship in Michigan, she has returned to Seattle to practice as an associate with Tousley Brain Stephens. Alex Crown
Alex was a five-year mocker with the program and has the distinction of being the first competitor in UWMT to compete at three national championships. Alex was a jack-of-all-trades in the courtroom as he spent time in every attorney role in addition to portraying Russian witnesses on the stand. Mr. Crown served as the tournament coordinator for the Emerald City Open during his fourth and fifth years with the program.

Shannon Foss
Shannon spent two seasons with Washington Mock Trial. During that time, she captivated judges with her opening statements. Shannon competed at NCT XXX with the program and helped UWMT earn an 8-0 finish at the 2014 St. Louis Opening Round Championship.

Rio Frazier, All-American
Rio joined UWMT as a junior after transferring to Washington and competed through her fifth year of college. She found her home on the stand where she portrayed witnesses ranging from bartenders to oceanographers. In the 2013-2014 season, Ms. Frazier shined as both Tyler Hartman, a theme park enthusiast, and Charlie Kaminsky, a limo driver. As Hartman, Rio earned three consecutive individual awards for her New Jersey-based character, including an All-American Witness award at NCT XXX.
Rio graduated with a degree in Linguistics. Amy Hersh
Amy spent three successful seasons with UWMT. During her tenure, she competed as both an attorney and a witness and took home honors in both roles. Ms. Hersh was a leader in the club and captained teams during her junior and senior seasons.

Jake Mintun
Jake spent three years with Husky Mock Trial. After a brief stint as an attorney, Mr. Mintun found his home on the witness stand. Jake excelled at playing everything from a police officer to a theme park mascot. Jake helped UWMT earn consecutive national championship berths.

Stephan Yhann
Stephan spent four strong years with UWMT. A natural speaker, Mr. Yhann often delivered opening statements or closing arguments in trial. Stephan aided in advancing UW to consecutive national championships and multiple tournament victories. He also led the fundraising effort for Husky Mock Trial as the Finance Chair for three years.
Stephan earned a double major in Political Science and Communication at the UW. He now studies at UW Law as a Gregoire Fellow. Stephan served as an assistant coach for the program during his first two years at UW Law. Tyler Monteferrante
Tyler has mocked since 2006, throughout boarding school as well as at UW. He is one of the founders of the Phillips Exeter Academy Mock Trial team and the Mock Trial Association of New England Independent Schools. Tyler, a UW Division of Design major, enjoys reading about and researching interaction and user interface design.
He regularly practices hot hatha yoga and plays classical violin. |

Brent Powell
Brent had four great years with UW Mock. He spent that time sitting at council table, often as a closing attorney. Mr. Powell helped UW earn its first and second national championship berths, both of which resulted in honorable mentions. As a sophomore, Brent served as Vice President of the team, which he followed with terms as President Pro-Tempe and President during his junior and senior years, respectively.
Brent graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. Now, he works in downtown Seattle designing road and sidewalk improvements. After work, Brent still attends practice as an assistant coach for the team. Landon Whitbread, All-American
Landon was a witness specialist for the UW Mock Trial team for four strong years. From defendants to experts to old men living in the woods, he developed characters that rivaled the best in the country. Landon was rewarded for his craft as a sophomore at NCT XXVII of Dr. Kendall Oxman. Mr. Whitbread helped propel the Huskies to multiple national championship appearances and served as Vice President during his senior season.
Landon earned a Communication degree from UW. He currently works for an internet startup. Landon has stuck with UWMT as an assistant coach for the program. Keena Bean, All-American
Keena competed with the program for three years as a dual-threat mocker. Her first few seasons were usually spent at council table, but she grew to be a strong witness. In UW's first national championship appearance, Ms. Bean delivered such great performances as a grieving mother that she earned All-American honors for her work.
Keena graduated with a degree in Law, Societies and Justice. She currently works for a Seattle public relations firm. Nick Crown, All-American
Nick was a founding member of the program and a lead attorney during his four year career. Mr. Crown won numerous awards and was instrumental in developing UWMT's national reputation for success. He was rewarded for his efforts by helping to advance UW to its first ever national championship appearance where the team earned an honorable mention finish and he took home an All-American Attorney award.
Nick served on the executive board during all of his competitive seasons, including two terms as President. After graduating with a double major in History and Italian, he received a Fulbright Scholarship to Italy for a year. Then, Nick attended the University of Virginia and Yale University law schools, and completed multiple clerkships. He is now an attorney back in his hometown of Seattle. Taylor Larson, All-American
Taylor joined UWMT at the beginning of 2010 after transferring from University of Richmond. Mr. Larson was a great witness who became an all-star attorney. He delivered speeches on both sides of the case during Washington's first run to and appearance at the national championship. Taylor was also instrumental in starting the Emerald City Open, the Pacific Northwest's premier invitational tournament.

Russell Pharr
Russell was a founding member of UWMT. He competed for four seasons as a witness. Mr. Pharr often portrayed expert-style witnesses, but he had a number of character performances--including a "blind" eye-witness--that scored well, too. Russell was constantly in leadership roles within the program and served multiple terms as Vice President.
Russell earned a Wildlife Conservation degree from the UW and he is now a zookeeper at the Dallas Zoo. Erica Strathern
Erica spent four years in the witness stand for UWMT. She excelled at a wide range of characters, and helped advance UWMT to four opening round championships in the program's first four seasons as well as the national championship in 2011. Ms. Strathern was a natural leader on the team and handled coordinating duties as the Logistics Chair during her career.

Matthew Skurnik
Matt spent two seasons with UWMT after joining in 2011. After a successful year as a witness, he made the move to the council table. Mr. Skurnik competed in both roles at New York University's prestigious Downtown Invitational, where he helped UW achieve Seventh Place.

Francesca Renouard
Francesca spent two seasons in the witness stand for UW. She was on the first Washington squad to advance to the national championship in 2011. That year, she found her groove as Dr. Chase Tuchmont.
Francesca studied Civil Engineering in her undergrad and is currently pursuing a Structural Engineering masters degree from UC Berkeley. |

Cory Potts
Cory is the grandfather of UWMT. After transferring from Davidson College in 2007, Mr. Potts started the Washington program. After a year of getting the team off the ground, Cory and Co. began competing...and winning. Through Cory's leadership as President and Co-Captain, the young program earned a bid to the opening round championships with its first opportunity and was invited to invitational tournaments in only its second year.
